The importance of being polite
Parisiens are polite, contrary to what I´ve always heard. I´d say that, as a whole, they´re the most polite city of people I know. It seems that being pleasant is part of their national pride. People exchange smiles and bonjour or bon soir on the street, the men are gentlemen, the shop owners are always very kind (in particular, the receptionists at the hostel are fantastic). In general, complete strangers will gladly help me with directions (as if they hadn´t been asked for directions 20 times that day already) and don´t get too frustrated when I don't understand. I really don't know where they get that snooty reputation.

Received your postcard today Friday, February 23, 2007.
The church is beautiful "Le Sacre-Coeur".
People make pilgrimages to Lourdes where the story of St. Bernadette was founded. They get blessed with holy water. One website is lourdes-france.org.
Hope you can make it there before leaving for Spain. I thought you were already in Spain.
I talked to Tara, Darrell and grandma tonight and told them I received your postcard. Tara said that the snow was melting and Avalon started to cheer. From comment in your blog from Tara that is a clue to when you'll be coming home.
Actually, we are getting a cold rain ice storm coming tomorrow night Saturday the 24. The whole climate everywhere is changing. How about France. That might be interesting to write about.
Don't forget to get grandpa's "Jesus" blessed. Hope it brings a safe and comforting holy pilgrimage for you.
But church is what's in your heart. We all can't be there with you but only in spirit and wellbeing vibes we can send you.
Your dad liked to read. Perhaps one day you can write a book with lot's of photos so all of us can see what you see in your travels.
But this blog is a good start!
